Of course, more importantly for these outstanding gentlemen, is the opportunity to raise money to help Sparrow Foundation’s Women Working Wonders (W3) Committee. The W3 Committee organizes the Dapper Dads Challenge, to fund equipment and resources at Sparrow that support women’s health issues in our region.
In this year’s event, more than 30 business leaders—representing a wide array of businesses and professions—have stepped up for the challenge. Returning models are Kellie Dean, John Gingas, Glenn Granger, Bob Hoffman, Charles Janssen, Pat McPharlin, Evan Pinsonnault, Jim Robinson, Ty Sanders, Mike Sekoni and John Truscott. New competitors this year are Chris Abood, Elie Azzi, Jonathon Bechtel, Tim Bograkos, Patrick Brillantes, Ken Brooks, Steve Charchut, Alan Haller, Geoffrey Hopwood, Jason Kildea, Brian Lefler, Lindsay Huddleston, Craig Powers, Scott Reece, Bill Roeser, Jason Sanders, Fred Schaard, Randy Shacka, Eric Stockall, Clint Tarver, Will Tieman and Mike Vallendar.
The 12-week voting competition will conclude at the Dapper Dads Challenge fashion show emceed by MSU Women’s Basketball coach Suzy Merchant and local TV personality Jason Colthorp, and featuring all the models, on Thursday, June 6 at Kositchek’s in downtown Lansing. This popular event is sponsored by Kositchek’s and the University Club of MSU. Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a VIP reception inside Kositchek’s that includes reserved fashion show seating, as well as musical entertainment by Phil Denny, for $50 per ticket. Those who wish to attend the fashion show only, which begins at 6:30 p.m., can purchase general admission tickets for $25 each. Both include wine and hors d'oeuvres. You may purchase tickets online at SparrowFoundation.org, call the Sparrow Foundation at (517) 364-5668, or purchase tickets by visiting Kositchek’s.
This year’s models need your support—and votes!—as they attempt to outdo the record-setting marker $157,000 raised by the 2012 Dapper Dads. Their efforts helped W3 exceed the $1 million mark in fundraising for women’s health since the volunteer group was first formed in 2002. Funds raised through this year’s event will be targeted toward improving the neurological health of women in mid-Michigan.
Each vote cast costs $5 and represents a donation to the Sparrow Foundation. Everyone—family, friends, colleagues, customers, clients and members of the public—is encouraged to vote often for their favorite Dapper Dad (or Dads).
The top winner will take home the coveted traveling Dapper Dads trophy. First, second, and third place winners will each receive a gift certificate from Kositchek's, and the top 13 winners will be featured in our third annual Dapper Dads Calendar.
